A division bench of the Madras High Court has ordered the constitution of a high-power committee to fix the scales of pay for teachers of engineering and polytechnic institutions as per the government’s career advancement scheme.
The Bench comprising Justices R. Subramanian and K. Surender said that the committee will consist of M.P. Vijayakumar, retired IAS officer and Vice-Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education, V. Vijay Shankar, advocate who handles service law-related cases in the High Court, and the Director of Technical Education, who will also serve as the secretary of the committee.
The Bench stated that the committee would examine the credentials of each candidate and fix the benefits they are entitled to as per government orders 111 dated May 25, 2010, and 95 dated May 5, 2010.
