Brad Pitt’s mother, Jane Etta Pitt, née Hillhouse, has died at the age of 84.
The Pitt matriarch’s granddaughter Sydney Pitt went public with the family’s loss in a Tuesday social media post. Representatives for the actor later confirmed the news to TMZ and People magazine.
Representatives for the actor did not immediately reply with further comment.
In an emotional tribute and collection of family photos, Sydney Pitt wrote, “My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier.”
“If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.”
