Furious locals have lashed out over plans to build a 'multi-faith' cemetery on an overgrown field - with neighbours insisting they will now 'move away'.

Residents living in the Lancashire town of Nelson are uproar after Pendle Council approved the controversial scheme.

It will see a sloping patch of grassland behind Halifax Road - popular with walkers and children - being ripped up and converted into a new burial site.

The field was bought by the local authority from Lancashire County Council in 2023.

However, Pendle Council was met by dozens of objections from locals when it revealed what it had in store for the land earlier this year.
