Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has failed dismally in trying to achieve his goal of obtaining another partial hostage deal which includes the release of 10 hostages, in exchange for a time-defined cease-fire which includes the option of renewing combat in Gaza. What's happening now – threatening messages and promises of conquering the entirety of Gaza – is a desperate attempt to bring Hamas back to the negotiating table, served with a heaping dose of frustration.
