"There's no choice left but to completely occupy the Strip and defeat Hamas," said Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar in an interview with News Channel 12.
Zohar admitted that the move "will definitely put the hostages in danger. But we must decide the story in Gaza, and there is no other way but to occupy the Strip." When asked about IDF officials' reservations about the move, Zohar said, "The military leadership is an operational leadership, but it is not a decision-making leadership. Who decides is the political leadership."
The minister added that "when the prime minister makes a final decision, he will stand in front of the camera and explain his decision to the Israeli citizens."
