Israel will allow Gaza merchants to bring aid into the Gaza Strip for the first time since the fighting resumed in March. The Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced that following the Security Cabinet's decision to expand humanitarian aid, a mechanism was approved to permit private Gaza merchants to deliver goods.

According to COGAT, defense officials have approved a limited number of merchants who will be allowed to transfer aid, subject to thorough security checks by the Crossing Authority and the Defense Ministry. The approved goods include basic food products, baby food, fruits, vegetables, and hygiene items.

It was also stated that payments for these goods will be made exclusively via bank transfers under a strict monitoring and control system. COGAT added that the move aims to reduce reliance on international organizations and the United Nations, while the distribution centers operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) will continue their work.
