Asia-Pacific markets traded higher after U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to significantly raise tariffs on Indian exports to the country.
“India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits,” Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was set to start the day higher with futures tied to the benchmark at 8,701, compared with its last close of 8,663.70.
