Minister for Housing, Prohibition and Excise S. Muthusamy on Monday handed over allotment orders and keys to 464 beneficiaries under the Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) project at Pudhumai Nagar.
The housing units were allotted to residents who had paid their share of the construction cost. The project is part of a broader urban housing redevelopment initiative implemented by the TNHB in Karungalpalayam, Periyar Nagar, and Pudhumai Nagar, under the Erode Housing Division. In total, 1,072 multi-storey residential units have been reconstructed under the scheme.
As per a Government Order, the beneficiary contribution was revised from ₹1.25 lakh to ₹1 lakh, with the option of instalment payment over 20 years. Many beneficiaries have opted into this scheme to secure houses.
Earlier, 272 units in Karungalpalayam and 336 units in Periyar Nagar were handed over to beneficiaries. Following the completion of works, 464 units in Pudhumai Nagar were formally allotted on Monday.
Erode East MLA V.C. Chandhirakumar, Deputy Mayor V. Selvaraj, TNHB executive engineer Periyasamy, assistant executive engineer Sumathi, and Corporation councillors were present.
