Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati, is all set to conduct its sixth convocation on Tuesday (August 5).
The institute, started in 2015 with only a BS-MS programme, has rapidly expanded to offer a number of courses such as Integrated PhD and PhD, besides hosting Post-Doctoral Research Fellows. It is also offering a four-year Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistical Sciences (BS-ESS) and a two-year MS (Masters by Research) programme starting August 2025.
A total of 255 students will be graduating this year, who include 22 from PhD, 8 from I-PhD, 3 from MS, 141 from BS-MS, 69 from professional Master’s, six from BS and six from BSc.
Interacting with the media here on Sunday, IISER Director Santanu Bhattacharya said the institute’s H-index currently stood at 57, with cumulative citations of 17,256. The Nature Index-2025 ranked IISER-Tirupati 33rd among academic institutions in India.
“IISER-Tirupati has strengthened its international ties with Heidelberg University and the University of Cologne, while we are soon launching an academic programme with University of Melbourne,” Dr. Bhattacharya said.
