Gynaecologist and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi N.V.N. Somu launched a women’s development cell (WDC) at Amal College of Advanced Studies, Nilambur, on Saturday (August 2).
Dr. Somu also inaugurated a ‘step strong’ project launched under the WDC for health, hygiene and safety of women. She distributed menstrual cups to students.
Dr. Somu told the students that women had the power to transform the present and future of society. She advised girls to think carefully before making decisions, acknowledging that there might be obstacles. She encouraged them to strive to overcome those challenges and push forward as aspiring professionals.
“We should take pride in our unique abilities: giving birth to children and shaping the future of society,” she said.
P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP, presided over the function. FemiSafe co-founder Noorin Aysha led a class. College management committee member P.V. Mohammed Muneer, college manager P.V. Ali Mubarak, principal K.P. Mohammed Basheer, and coordinator P. Sajida spoke.
