The president of J Street, a liberal pro-Israeli Jewish group based in the U.S., has issued a statement accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
Jeremy Ben-Ami, who founded the group and lobby in 2007, said that he was "persuaded rationally by legal and scholarly arguments that international courts will one day find that Israel has broken the international genocide convention."
"Until now, I have tried to deflect and defend when challenged to call this genocide," he wrote. "But I cannot and will not argue any more against those using the term. I simply won't defend the indefensible."
