A 55-year-old woman died by suicide allegedly due to pressure by bank officials to clear the loan borrowed by her son at Hanike village in Belur taluk.

Dakshayini attempted to end her life on July 31. Her family members took her to the hospital at Belur and later shifted to Mangaluru, where she died on Saturday, August 2.

In his complaint, Dakshayini’s husband, Nanjunde Gowda, said that his son Yathish had borrowed a loan from IDFC bank at Chikkamagaluru. The bank officials visited their home repeatedly for loan recovery when his son was not at home. His wife Dakshayini faced the bank officials daily.

Unable to take the bank officials’ pressure for clearance of loan, she ended her life, he said. He has blamed the bank officials for the incident. Based on his complaint, The Belur police have registered a case.
