Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has announced the revival of the ‘Gandikota Utsavalu’, which will be held in a grand manner on December 26 and 27 to promote the famous tourist spot across the globe.
Participating in the tourism investors meeting conducted at Gandikota, reckoned as the ‘Grand Canyon of India’, on Friday, he said the region would be developed as an anchor hub.
“The naturally formed gorge is a tourism booster for the region. This apart, there is a 13th century temple built during the Kakatiya rule, which is a tourist’s dream destination. We are developing Gandikota with ₹78 crore sanctioned by the Centre under the Special Assistance for Capital Infrastructure (SASCI) scheme,“ he said.
The Chief Minister also hinted at the need to build star hotels to provide quality accommodation to visitors arriving for leisure tourism, apart from ropeway, boating, sound and light show at the fort, glass bottom walkway and so on.
He also announced launch of heli-rides from September to give the tourists a breath-taking view of the gorge. Similarly, caravan tourism and eco-friendly tent city would also be encouraged to attract tourists from Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
