Ration cards were distributed in the Khairatabad Assembly constituency on Friday. With 55,378 new ration cards, the total number in Hyderabad reached 6.94 lakh, said District In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who presided over the programme. Now, the number of beneficiaries increased from 23,61,440-27,40,689 lakh.
The Minister said that people who were married in the past 10 years did not receive the cards though they have applied for it. Currently, over one lakh applications are being processed. Later, he distributed ration cards in Jubilee Hills and Secunderabad Cantonment constituencies.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on July 21 issued directions to officials to commence distribution of the cards in all mandal headquarters between July 25 and August 10. Across Telangana, as of July 21 this year, 96,95,299 Ration cards were distributed and the number of beneficiaries was 3,12, 72,988.
