The Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) District police on Friday seized properties worth ₹17 lakh of Perumal Srinu which were funded through ganja smuggling, said Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar on Friday (August 1, 2025).

In a press release issued here on Friday, Mr. Bardar said that Mr. Perumal Srinu had acquired properties worth approximately ₹17,11,805 using proceeds from smuggling operations across ASR, Vizianagaram districts in Andhra, Odisha, and Dammapeta in Telangana. These properties were registered in the names of his wife and relatives in an attempt to conceal their illicit origin, the SP added.

Following a detailed financial investigation, the police initiated legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Seizure and freezing orders have been issued under Section 68F of the Act to prevent the transfer or disposal of these tainted assets, he said.

Mr. Bardar also reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance approach toward drug-related offences. He urged the public to verify the legal status of any property before purchase, warning that assets acquired through criminal means are subject to seizure under the law.
