A British couple have been arrested in the Spanish resort town of Xàbia after police allegedly caught them with nearly 50 grams of cocaine hidden in their car.
The 57-year-old man and 37-year-old woman were stopped around 8:30pm on Sunday, July 28, during a routine police operation on Avenida de la Libertad.
According to Javea Town Hall, officers became suspicious after noticing that a vehicle had turned in the opposite direction to avoid a checkpoint.
They are said to have quickly moved in on the car and tested the driver, whose results came back positive for cocaine.
According to cops, the man appeared nervous during initial investigations, prompting a full search of the car they were travelling in.
