It might be the first day of August - but today Brits are being warned to brace for Storm Floris which will batter the UK next week.
A yellow alert has been issued in northern parts of the country from 6am Monday to 6am Tuesday, with forecasters warning of 'unseasonably strong' winds and a 'danger to life'.
The latest named storm of 2025 is set to bring 'unusually windy weather' for this time of year, the Met Office said.
Inland parts of the warning area could see westerly gusts of 40 to 50 mph and exposed coasts and high ground could see winds reach 70 mph - with a chance winds could reach 85 mph on Scottish coastlines and hills.
The strongest winds are likely to affect Scotland on Monday afternoon and night but 'there remains some uncertainty in the depth and track of Floris', the Met Office said.
