When various government schemes are named after ‘Namo’ (a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi) and ‘Amma’ (an epithet used to describe former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa), why can’t Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s name be used for the State government’s outreach programme, ‘Ungaludan Stalin,’ the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) asked before the Madras High Court on Thursday (July 31, 2025).
Appearing before the first Division Bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice Sunder Mohan, senior counsel P. Wilson, representing the DMK, also accused former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam of having filed a public interest litigation (PIL), with a political motive, against the use of the Chief Minister’s name for a government scheme.
