A team of rowers who are aiming to raise millions of pounds towards a cure for Motor Neurone Disease have been forced to drastically change their route because of the weather.
The ROW4MND crew – who are inspired by rugby stars Doddie Weir and Rob Burrow, who both died from the disease – had set off from Land’s End heading to John O’Groats via the Irish Sea.
The Row4MND crew has battled low temperatures, gales and heavy seas as they attempt to raise £57 million for MND research.
The 555-mile cycle set off from Belfast on Sunday in memory of the late Scottish rugby star Doddie Weir.
The Doddie’s Triple Crown 2026 team left Melrose on Tuesday, with a 750-mile cycle to Dublin ahead of them.
Ewan, Jamie and Lachlan Maclean described the support they have had from back home as ‘humbling’.
