IDF soldiers killed a local, Khamis Abdul Latif Ayyad, during a settler attack on the town of Silwad, east of Ramallah, local sources and the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
According to the sources, a group of settlers broke into the town and set fire to vehicles and houses while IDF forces were present at the scene. During the settlers' raid, the soldiers opened fire, resulting in the young man's death, they said.
Locals told Wafa that "Ayyad suffocated to death while trying to extinguish the fires set by the [settlers] on citizens' vehicles."
