Lutnick, who made the comments during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, provided no further details.
“It’s unbelievable. And because he [Trump] uses trade, he gets to invite me on the phone, and I listened all day Saturday while he’s calling Cambodia, Thailand,” he said.
The White House and Commerce Department did not immediately respond to requests for further details.
Trump had used trade talks as a cudgel to bring both nations to the negotiating table, threatening that Washington would not reach trade deals with either as long as the fighting continued. After the peace deal was inked, Trump called leaders in both countries and told his trade team to restart talks with both nations.
