The Corporation Council on Wednesday passed a resolution to start work on preparing a land plan schedule for improving road network by creating slip roads and widening various stretches.

The civic body will acquire land to develop slip roads in various parts of the city.

The decision is based on a petition submitted to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin by Central Chennai MP Dayanidhi Maran.

The GCC will widen MRTS Link Road by acquiring land — 357m in length and 5m in width — from Queen Mary’s College.

Slip roads will be constructed on stretches such as Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai to ease traffic congestion.
