A 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed in a broad daylight attack in east London, as police arrest five teenagers on suspicion of attempted murder.

Emergency services rushed to Charlemont Road in Newham shortly after 4pm on Saturday following reports of a stabbing.

Paramedics treated the schoolboy at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

The shocking attack, which unfolded in front of horrified members of the public, has sparked an urgent police investigation.

Five teenage boys, aged between 14 and 17, were arrested today in connection with the stabbing – all on suspicion of attempted murder.
