Central bank maintains stance as uncertainties loom

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's central bank kept its monetary policy unchanged on Wednesday despite growing economic uncertainty, as U.S. tariffs continue to cloud the outlook for the trade-reliant country.

Rather than interest rates, Singapore's monetary policy centers on exchange rates. Authorities allow the Singapore dollar to rise or fall against the currencies of major trading partners to stabilize prices.
