An 11-year-old schoolgirl has been airlifted to hospital after a car ploughed into her at a pedestrian crossing.
The child was injured after a black Toyota Auris smashed into her on the A4500 Weedon Road at Upton in Northampton.
The serious crash occurred at around 4.05pm on Monday and the girl was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital.
A 54-year-old woman from Northampton has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
She has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
