It took 48 hours after the news broke that MK Hanoch Milwidsky was being investigated on suspicions of rape and witness tampering for his Likud party to issue a statement on the matter. That's a non-negligible chunk of time, leading the naïve among us to think that maybe this time, the party had finally reached its limit – that maybe when it came to rape, we would be spared the ruling party's automatic flood of invective every time one of its darlings tangles with the law.
