Former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday that US President Donald Trump was playing “the ultimatum game” with Russia and that such an approach could lead to a war involving the United States.
“Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with [Trump’s] own country,” Medvedev wrote in a post on social media.
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said in a statement afterwards that the agreement would help the bloc fully phase out Russian fossil fuels in favour of American alternatives.
