One person died and three others were injured after a Family Dollar store building partially collapsed in Kansas City, Missouri, officials said.

The Kansas City Fire Department responded to a report of a partial building collapse at a Family Dollar store on Broadway Boulevard around 2:45 p.m. local time on July 27, according to a news release provided to USA TODAY.

A 68-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 50-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital with significant injuries and was in critical condition, according to the release dated July 27.

Two other people were treated and released at the scene.

KCFD said the collapse occurred at the store's exterior parapet wall, which is a low barrier wall that extends slightly beyond a building's roofline.
