Senior members of the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee have begun a three-day hunger strike in protest of what they describe as a "war of destruction, starvation, and displacement against the residents of Gaza."
The strike, which is taking place at the offices of the Arab Association of Jaffa, includes Arab local authority heads, public figures, and academics. Organizers have displayed photos from Gaza alongside protest posters at the site.
At 5 P.M., the committee is expected to hold a press conference at the hunger strike venue. The committee has called for Monday to be declared a day of mass public fasting and hunger strike, in solidarity with the strikers.
The hunger strike will end on Tuesday, after which organizers plan to hold a rally in front of the U.S. Embassy.
