The hospital said six were critical and five were in serious condition after the Michigan store knifing

At least 11 people were stabbed at a Walmart in Traverse City on Saturday – with six in critical condition – in what the sheriff said appeared to be a random act. A suspect was in custody, authorities said.

“Eleven is 11 too many, but thank God it wasn’t more,” Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea told reporters.

“Based on the information that we have at this time, it appears they were random acts,” he said. “The victims were not predetermined.”

The suspect, a Michigan resident, apparently acted alone, he said, adding that the weapon involved appeared to be a folding-style knife.
