Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is horrified by the idea that the October 7 massacre could lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state. He and his partners in the governing coalition view this prospect as a monumental failure.

Yet their actions are basically convincing the international community to push for this very outcome. Since the start of the war, Netanyahu has failed to present a clear political vision for ending the conflict.

He has neither mobilized the international community to help rebuild Gaza nor opted for a dialogue on the matter. Backed by the U.S. administration, Israel has chosen to expand the war in Gaza. Early on, it abandoned any attempt to find common ground with Europe.
