Two brothers were found electrocuted at a poultry farm in Vazhavatta, near Kalpetta, in Wayanad district on Thursday. The victims were identified as Anoop, 38, and his younger brother Shinu, 35.

Their bodies were spotted near the leased farm by its owner P.V. Simon around 8 a.m. Police sources said an active electric fence around the farm could have caused the death. More details could be revealed only after examining the post-mortem report, they said.

A case of unnatural death has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Surakhsa Sanhita. The bodies have been shifted to the Government General Hospital at Kalpetta.

Farm on lease

According to local people, the siblings took the farm on lease a few months ago. They said the electric fence was installed to protect the stock from dogs and wild animals. Officials from the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) visited the site for a detailed inspection. They said a preliminary report had been submitted to the district administration and the higher authorities to comply with the legal measures.
