Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) Chancellor, G. S. N. Raju highlighted the transformative impact innovation, research and advanced technology have brought to the healthcare sector, noting its ability to enable cure for many chronic diseases.Speaking at the international conference on ‘Smart and Advanced Applications’ organised by the University’s School of Paramedics and Allied Health Sciences on Thursday, he emphasised on the importance of upskilling and said that apart from doctors, staff in the healthcare sector should enhance their knowledge in the usage of advanced technologies to ensure quick healing for patients.Associate Professor (Optometry), Qassim University of Saudi Arabia, said that advanced imaging technology has become a boon in identifying eye related diseases among diabetic patients. New technology helps prevents further retinal damage among patients.Indian Institute of Technology and Management (IICT-Hyderabad) Chief Scientist, S. Sridhar discussed the role of membrane technology in early detection and prevention of waterborne diseases such as jaundice, cholera, typhoid and other diseases. He said: “ With the adoption of membrane technology, which is widely being used in nanofiltration and ultra filtration, water diseases could be checked in the initial stage.”All India Institute of Medical Sciences retired professor P. Apparao (Microbiology) spoke about the importance of histamine, a chemical compound which plays a crucial role in the functioning of the human body. He said: “Histamine has the potential to cure a majority of diseases completely or reduce medication dependency in disease management.The University’s Vice Chancellor P. K. Mohanty and Registrar P.
