AIADMK Workers’ Rights Retrieval Committee coordinator O. Panneerselvam and AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Thursday opposed the reported decision to transfer teachers from the Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) to other universities, in violation of the norms of the University Grants Commission.In a statement, Mr. Panneerselvam said there were only 37 professors and 43 assistant professors in the university appointed on a temporary basis. While so, they were being shifted to colleges under other universities, he said, and cited protests staged by the affected staff for the past few days.Mr. Dhinakaran urged the DMK government to revoke the decision to transfer the teaching staff and fill the vacancies in the TNOU.
