The Mysuru division of the South Western Railway has taken up major structural repair works and renovation of the stairs connecting the foot over bridge (FoB) at the Mysuru station starting from Friday.

Consequently, access to platform numbers 2 and 3 via the FoB will be restricted, and passengers will have to use the subway.

Girish Dharmaraj Kalagonda, Divisional Commercial Manager, told media persons that the work is expected to take around 60 days.

“While trains will continue to operate from platform numbers 2 and 3, access to the platforms will only be via the subway or by lift, and the new arrangement will be in place for about 2 months,” he added.

The existing stairs are nearly 80 years old and have not been replaced ever since their construction. They have shown signs of ageing, and now require strengthening and modernisation to meet present day safety standards, according to Mr. Kalagonda.
