Ascorching weekend is coming to Italy with temperatures up to 40 degrees, forecaster Antonio Sanò said Friday.

The hottest weekend of the year is coming, up to this point, and due to an African anticyclone, temperatures will reach 37-40°C from South to North, said Sanò, founder of the website www.iLMeteo.it, confirming the increase in temperatures.

The hottest cities during the weekend will be, with 40°C, Taranto; 39°C Agrigento, Florence, Oristano, Pistoia, Prato, Syracuse and Terni; 38°C Foggia, Frosinone, Grosseto, Matera, Ragusa and Rome; 37°C Arezzo, Caserta, Cremona, Crotone, Fermo, Livorno, Lucca, Parma, Piacenza and Reggio Emilia.

In the rest of the country temperatures will reach 34-36°C accompanied by high humidity.

And the heat is destined to last: "We do not see a significant meteorological change on the horizon; at most, the models foresee greater instability in the North for the next week with storms in the mountains and some gusts of less hot air also towards the plains", says Sanò.
