An inspector for Kent Police who beat up his ex-girlfriend before claiming he had been treated 'more harshly' due to his policing role filmed himself toasting his former employers in a video posted on social media while on holiday in Ibiza.

Inspector James Beautridge, 49, denied but was convicted of common assault by beating at Southend Magistrates' Court on May 2, and was dismissed by the force last week in his absence.

Video footage has now emerged of him drinking shots with his new partner in Ibiza, where he was on holiday last week - and thanking Kent Police for the privilege.

The charge related to an incident of domestic violence in 2023 in which he attacked his then-girlfriend, which he said was in self-defence - a claim rejected by the courts.

Chaired by Chief Constable Tim Smith, the hearing was told Beautridge, of Bearsted, Kent, was arrested and suspended from duty on September 2, 2023 pending trial.
