In an unprecedented move, President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued a forceful rebuke of Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial, calling it “a ridiculous Witch Hunt” that should be canceled, while vowing the U.S. would step in to “save” the Israeli prime minister.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump strongly defended Netanyahu, who was indicted in 2019 on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust in three separate cases, citing their recent joint effort against Iran.
“Bibi and I just went through HELL together, fighting a very tough and brilliant longtime enemy of Israel, Iran,” Trump wrote.
The U.S. launched an attack on three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend following pressure from Israel to aid its war against Tehran.
“Bibi Netanyahu was a WARRIOR, like perhaps no other Warrior in the History of Israel, and the result was something that nobody thought was possible, a complete elimination of potentially one of the biggest and most powerful Nuclear Weapons anywhere in the World, and it was going to happen, SOON!” Trump added.
