The CIA announced Wednesday that Iran's nuclear program has been "severely damaged" by recent, targeted strikes, with several key facilities reportedly destroyed.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe stated that "a body of credible intelligence" supports the assessment, including new information from a "historically reliable and accurate source/method."

Ratcliffe said the destroyed facilities would require "years" to rebuild.

The agency director added that the CIA is continuing to gather additional intelligence to keep "appropriate decision-makers and oversight bodies fully informed" and will provide updates to the American public "when possible" due to the national importance of the issue and in an effort to provide transparency.
