Four persons were arrested in connection with death of a minor girl at Molandi village in West Bengal during a celebratory procession linked to Kaliganj bypoll results on Tuesday (June 24, 2025)

“In (the) incident of explosion at Molandi, Borochandghar under Kaliganj police station area, which led to death of a minor girl, 4 persons were arrested,” the West Bengal police posted on social media.

In a report to the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the police admitted that crude bombs were hurled from celebratory processions which killed the girl.

“At around 1 p.m., shortly after reports of the electoral lead by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate in the Kaliganj Assembly bypoll, a group of miscreants reportedly engaged in a celebratory procession during which crude bombs were hurled, allegedly to assert dominance over rival factions,” the police report to the CEO said.

The report added that one such bomb tragically resulted in the death of Tamanna Khatun, daughter of Hossain Sk of Molandi Belepara. She sustained grievous injuries and later succumbed despite immediate medical attention.
