Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson has claimed that the Murdoch family asked him to run against Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Carlson said the prominent media family, which owns the news outlets Fox News and The Wall Street Journal, urged him to enter the presidential race after they had already fired him from his hosting role at Fox News, where he worked from 2009 to 2023.

“The Murdochs really hate Trump,” Carlson told guest and former Fox News host Clayton Morris during Monday’s episode of his podcast, the “Tucker Carlson Show.”

“I got fired in April of 2023. In May of 2023, they asked me to run for president against Trump and said they would back me.”

Carlson then appeared to scoff over the family’s proposal, saying, “I’d never get elected. Plus, I like Trump.”
