June 24 (UPI) -- The fragile cease-fire between Israel and Iran went into effect early Tuesday, with the objective of ending their two-week war, but not before both sides exchanged a final round of attacks.
The Israel Defense Forces said it had attacked missile launchers in northern Iran shortly before the cease-fire was to take effect, while announcing that there had been several missile launches from Iran toward Israel early Tuesday. Israel said on its X account that at least four people were killed and 22 injured in the attack on Be'er Sheva.
However, about two hours after the cease-fire went into effect, the IDF reported that it had detected additional missile launches from Iran toward Israel, the implications of which were not yet clear.
Israel said early Tuesday it had accepted President Donald Trump's cease-fire plan to end the war, while Iran said it would stop fighting when Israel did.
