After missile sirens remained quiet in Haifa on Sunday morning despite an Iranian missile crashing into the northern Israeli city, a preliminary probe by the IDF's Home Front Command found that the army failed to identify the missile.
Initially, the IDF thought a failed Israeli interceptor caused the impact in Haifa, but the joint investigation with the air force proved it was an Iranian warhead.
"The findings indicate that there was a localized failure in the detection process, and as a result, a missile warhead fell in the Haifa area without an alert," the army's statement read. "We emphasize that there was no issue with the Home Front Command's alert system."
