SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Giants said they are aware of an allegation of abuse made against right-hander Sean Hjelle by his wife and have forwarded the matter to Major League Baseball.
Caroline Hjelle, Sean’s wife, posted a video on TikTok Friday night of herself with the former couple’s two sons accompanied by a caption that read, “When my MLB husband abandons us on Mothers Day a week after (this video was taken) once I finally found out about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse, so I’ve been raising two boys alone.” The post was accompanied by a series of hashtags that included #divorce, #cheating and #infidelity.
The matter was forwarded to MLB to be handled under the league’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Hjelle remains available to pitch in relief.
“Obviously, we’re aware of it. He told me about it last night,” Melvin said Saturday morning. “We’ve talked to MLB and at this point, it’s in their jurisdiction, so we can’t comment on it any further.”
