Israel launched a series of major airstrikes overnight targeting an Iranian nuclear testing facility and missile production sites, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said.
Over 60 jets were involved in the attacks, dropping more than 120 munitions.
The target in Iran’s capital Tehran had served as “the industrial core of Iran’s Defense Ministry”, the IDF claimed.
The IDF added that the headquarters of Iran’s Organisation of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) - a centre for the “research and development of Iran’s nuclear weapons project” - was hit during the operation.
The strikes followed Donald Trump’s offer to Iran to negotiate an end to its nuclear programme.
