With Youth Privacy ‘Deeply Under Threat,’ Professor Proposes New Model for Protection

With tech companies increasingly using online data for financial gain, privacy for young people “is deeply under threat” and a new model is needed to ensure they are protected, according to Professor Danielle Citron of the University of Virginia School of Law.

The current model for privacy protection is outdated, she said, because it relies almost entirely on parents to safeguard their children’s most personal information.
