D.K. Suresh, brother of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and former MP, has been elected unopposed as president of the Bangalore Milk Union Ltd. (BAMUL).
This is being viewed as a move to strengthen the influence of the brothers in the milk cooperative sector, which may pave the way for him to eventually become president of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).
Kudur Rajanna was elected vice-president of BAMUL, also unopposed.
Speaking to reporters after the election results were declared, Mr. Suresh said that all 16 directors (14 elected and two nominated) of the union had elected him and Mr. Rajanna unopposed.
The former MP said that he had filed his nomination at the behest of all MLAs within the BAMUL jurisdiction, including his brother Mr. Shivakumar.
