Two Democrats are vying to be the one to face Attorney General Jason S. Miyares (R) in November: Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor, who is emphasizing her track record as a top local prosecutor, and former delegate Jay Jones (Norfolk), an attorney who has handled consumer protection and civil rights cases and who is trying to become the first African American to serve as Virginia’s top lawyer. Miyares is running unopposed.
An estimated 2.3 percent of votes have been counted.
