LOS ANGELES — It’s Shohei Ohtani day in the City of Angels.

The three-time MVP will make his pitching debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, June 16, making the start against the San Diego Padres as he takes the mound for the first time since August 2023.

Ohtani’s first game pitching came to fruition quickly as he worked his way back to the mound. After he rehabbed his arm during his 2024 MVP season as he recovered from his torn ulnar collateral ligament he suffered with the Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani made progress with simulated games in recent weeks. The expectation was he’d pitch after the All-Star break in July, but with the Dodgers pitching staff gashed by injuries, the team opted to give Ohtani the green light.

It won’t be a long outing, but it’ll be a must watch event with the two-way star now pitching for the home team at Dodger Stadium. USA TODAY Sports will provide the latest updates, highlights and more. Follow along:
