Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine on Monday (June 16) announced that the State government aims to provide drinking water to every household in Kerala.

He was speaking after inaugurating the renovated Karal Theru Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple Pond in Ward 26 of the Thalassery Municipality.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, the Minister said that when the present administration took office, the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) had provided drinking water connections to only 17 lakh households.

“Today, that number has increased to 44 lakh families. Tenders have already been floated for projects to ensure the supply of drinking water to all homes,” he added.

The event was presided over by Assembly Speaker A. N. Shamseer, who urged the public and organisers to ensure the protection and maintenance of the renovated pond. He also recommended creating opportunities for children to learn swimming.
